Enemas as a Sacred Act: A Ritual of Cleansing, Release, and Renewal

When we think of an enema, most people picture a clinical procedure meant only for constipation or medical preparation. Yet, in truth, it can be so much more than that. It is a practice that, when approached with mindfulness and intention, becomes a sacred act of cleansing, release and renewal.

Beyond its physical benefits of detoxifying the colon and supporting liver function, an enema can serve as a spiritual ritual – an opportunity to let go of stagnant energy, emotional heaviness and even old patterns that no longer serve us.

In my personal journey, enemas have become a way to honor my body as a temple, to align with the cycles of nature such as the full moon, and to deepen my connection with self-care and plant medicine work.

      What Is an Enema?

At its simplest, an enema is the introduction of liquid into the colon via the rectum. Traditionally, it’s been used to relieve constipation, clear waste, and prepare for medical procedures. But when used in a mindful detox protocol, enemas can do far more:

      • Support colon cleansing – flushing out impacted stool, toxins and mucoid plaque

      • Assist parasite cleansing – helping expel dead parasites and eggs, especially after taking natural remedies

      • Aid liver detoxification – especially with coffee enemas, which stimulate bile flow and glutathione production

      • Relieve toxic symptoms – such as headaches, fatigue, skin breakouts, and brain fog during cleansing protocols

      • Restore gut balance – when enriched with probiotics or herbal infusions

But beyond biology, an enema can also be an energetic cleanse – a way to physically release what your body no longer needs while symbolically letting go of emotional and spiritual baggage.

My Personal Story: Why I See Enemas as Sacred

Over the years of cleansing, teaching, and guiding others, I have come to see enemas as one of the most powerful tools for healing. Not just because they work physically, but because they invite us into presence.

For me, enemas are not a clinical chore. They are a sacred act. I prepare them with intention, using mountain spring water from our farm in Montagu, carefully chosen herbs and natural ingredients and a prayer of blessing.

I time many of my enemas with the moon cycles, especially around the full moon, when parasites are most active in the body. This is when I do my parasite cleansing protocols with remedies like:

A few days after the full moon, once the parasites have been weakened or killed, I use enemas to flush them out of my system. Because killing them is only half the work – you must release them, otherwise their toxic waste stays inside you .

      Added Ingredients & Their Benefits

I often rotate or combine ingredients, each chosen for their unique properties:

      • Organic Coffee – stimulates the liver, boosts bile flow, increases glutathione (the body’s master detoxifier)

      • Organic Green Tea – high in antioxidants, supports gentle cleansing, calms inflammation

      • Liquid Probiotics – help repopulate beneficial gut bacteria

      • Activated Charcoal – binds to toxins, heavy metals, and parasite die-off waste for safe elimination

      • Vitamin C Powder – boosts immunity, alkalizes, and helps neutralize toxins

      • Turmeric – anti-inflammatory, supports liver and digestive health

      • Good Quality Salt (Himalayan, Celtic, or Oryx) – provides essential electrolytes and minerals, balances hydration

Note: The actual quantities of these ingredients are very important. The goal is not to add too much, as this can aggravate the bowel. An enema should always be gentle and supportive. Dosages also depend on each individual’s constitution and sensitivity. Please be mindful about both the ingredients you choose and the amounts you use. If you need personalized guidance, feel free to contact me directly for support.

By blessing the water and mindfully choosing each ingredient, the enema becomes more than physical. It becomes medicine for body and spirit.

      Sacred Ritual

      1. Prepare the Space

      • Cleanse the bathroom with Palo Santo or sage

      • Lay down a comfortable blanket and pillow

      • Light a candle and incense to set the tone

      2. Bless the Water & Ingredients

      • Give thanks to the water, herbs, and earth for their healing power

      • Speak an intention: “As I cleanse my body, I cleanse my spirit. As I release, I make space for light.”

      3. Administer the Enema Mindfully

      4. The Release

      • After about 15–20 minutes, release fully

      • Be mindful of what you are letting go of, both physically and symbolically

      5. Aftercare

      • Take a warm shower, seeing it as a second layer of purification

      • Cleanse the space again with Palo Santo

      • Rest and hydrate with mineral-rich water, coconut water, broth, or juice

Enemas, Moon Cycles & Plant Medicine

For those walking the path of plant medicine, enemas are especially powerful. They help keep the system clean and optimized, so the body is a clear vessel—a channel for spiritual work.

By syncing enemas with moon cycles, you align with natural rhythms. The full moon is when parasites are most active; the waning moon is when the body is most ready to release.

This rhythm connects enemas to something far greater: the cosmic cycles that govern life itself.
